Projects

Our dedicated team plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing a wide range of projects that contribute to the growth and development of the Gulf Province. At the heart of our responsibilities, lie the Workshop, the centre for all infrastructure-related initiatives.
Our work extends beyond constructing new buildings and houses or maintaining existing infrastructure. We take pride in our commitment to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of essential services, such as water and electricity systems, that are vital to the functioning of Kapuna.
In addition to our infrastructure endeavors, the Projects Team is actively engaged in various impactful projects. One notable initiative is the WASH (Water, Health, and Sanitation) project, where we focus on enhancing the quality of life by improving access to clean water and sanitation facilities. Education projects are another significant aspect of our portfolio, reflecting our dedication to empowering the community through knowledge and learning opportunities.
We don’t work in isolation. We collaborate with partners and sponsors who share our vision. Their support is crucial in realizing our projects, and together, we make a powerful team.

Through our projects, we strive to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of the people we are privileged to work with.

Non Building Site Manager

Hi, I’m Bradley Parapi, a Site Manager at Kapuna Projects under Gulf Christian Services, overseeing Electrical, Plumbing, Welding, and Mechanical areas. Our non-building team complements the building team’s efforts, striving for excellence and completion in our projects.

As a Site Manager, I collaborate with the Building Site Manager, Project Managers, and team members, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of projects. My role involves executing tasks from our weekly project meetings, supervising site work, addressing contractor queries, and reporting progress to the project management team. I also conduct weekly Site Walks every Friday, overseeing project needs and progress.

In the realm of electricity, Kapuna has shifted to clean energy, utilizing smart solar technology and reducing our reliance on diesel which is expensive to get out here. Our system includes over 360 PV generators, PV inverters, lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 614.4 kWh, and an 85 KVA Diesel Generator backup. Our current daily energy consumption is around 245.76 kWh. We have two main power lines: Residence Power for staff housing and 24/7 Power for the hospital and other key facilities.

Our welding and fabrication unit handles metalwork for various infrastructure projects, prioritising strength, and quality.

In plumbing, we manage water sources, including well water and rainwater, with a network of tanks and pipes ensuring reliable water supply and pressure throughout the hospital and staff residences.

The mechanical section, essential for transportation and logistics in the Gulf Province, maintains our range of river transport vehicles and hospital generators, ensuring their reliability and safety.

Our team at Kapuna is dedicated to providing efficient and safe services. We welcome visitors and are open to assistance or collaboration. Thank you for your interest in our work and I look forward to meeting you.

Bradley Parapi,
Site Manager.

Building Site Manager

Hi, I’m Amos Po’o, one of the site managers with the Kapuna Projects team. My role involves overseeing the building teams and sharing updates on our ongoing projects.

About the Site Manager’s Role: In my capacity as a site manager, I closely collaborate with the projects manager to ensure the safe and efficient execution of all projects, both minor and major, within specified timelines. I actively participate in our Monday morning meetings with project managers to discuss weekly plans and address any additional tasks they may assign to my team. Regular site inspections are conducted to ensure contractors are engaged in their work.

About the building team: Over the years, our building team has played a crucial role in constructing homes for Gulf Christian Services workers, facilitating a comfortable living environment. Engaging in numerous minor and major projects, our team has consistently met project deadlines. Notably, we successfully contributed to the Incentive Fund project, involving the reconstruction of the hospital and completing it on schedule. We also used it as an opportunity to train up many young and unexperienced builders, many of which are now team leaders.

Our team is currently involved in constructing new staff houses and wards. Additionally, we operate a dedicated maintenance team, which handles work requests submitted by staff and entities through a formal process. Our primary objective is to ensure timely completion, leaving both our project team and project stakeholders satisfied.

Conclusion: I trust you enjoyed learning about our endeavours here in Kapuna. Should you like to come and work or volunteer with us, we’d be delighted to welcome and share more about this beautiful place and our lives with you. If you’re interested in further information or wish to support us in any way, we would love to chat more.

A heartfelt thanks to all for your continued support.

Best regards,

Amos Po’o
