The Little Foxes

A few thoughts that our Lord shared with us from John chapter 12—thoughts for us as individuals and for us as an organization, GCS. We want to see the call of God fulfilled in our lives, and we also want to see the vision of Go Christian Services fulfilled. So we’ll listen to what our Lord Yeshua the Messiah has said.
In John 12:35, He says, “While you have the light, walk in the light.” While you have the light, walk in the light. As God’s people, we are to walk in the light so that we can become sons of the light. This is what God blesses—when His people are in the light. But Jesus also adds a second part to this warning: “Walk in the light, lest darkness overtake you.”
Let’s focus on what Jesus means by “lest darkness overtake you.” In Deuteronomy 18, Moses speaks from God to the people of Israel, saying, “You’re about to enter the land, and in this land, the people practice many different practices. You are God’s people, and you are not to practice what the people in the land practice.” Moses emphasizes that while there are practices in the world, God’s people must not learn, imitate, or engage in them. They are called to be holy and to obey God’s commands.
In Numbers 25, we see a picture of Moses and the people of Israel crying and weeping before the tent of meeting. They are weeping because God has struck them with a plague, and many are dying. Why would God do such a thing? Even though Israel had come out of Egypt and spent 40 years in the desert, this new generation, just about to enter the promised land, began practicing the ways of the people in the land—the Moabites and the Midianites.
The king of Midian, Balak, had sent for Balaam to curse Israel. But Balaam was unable to curse them because they were blessed and holy people of God. Balaam then whispered to Balak and the women of Midian, advising them to trap the Israelites through immorality and idol worship. By doing so, God Himself would bring judgment on His people. As a result, the plague came upon Israel because some of them began joining the forbidden practices.
Song of Songs 2:15 warns us: “Catch the little foxes, for they spoil the blossoms on the vine.” Blossoms, which are meant to turn into fruit, can be destroyed by small things. GCS has a vision—a fruit-bearing purpose for God. If we allow the “little foxes” of worldly practices into our lives, there will be no fruit for God, and the vision will not be fulfilled.
Finally, Leviticus 20 warns us about the consequences of adopting worldly practices: “The land will vomit you out.” Similarly, Revelation warns that if we become lukewarm by adopting the practices of the world, God will spit us out. We must guard our hearts, minds, and the mission of GCS to ensure we remain in God’s blessing, so His vision is fulfilled. Communities will be transformed, God’s presence will be among us, and Christ will be glorified.
