Here is a story about the wonderful work of KAKS, an acronym for Karimai, Ara A’va, Kapuna Sewing, is a flourishing initiative that was born two years ago under the dedicated leadership of The Projects Team(DaniĆ«lle Dijkema) and Sherry Rex, who serves as the head seamstress. Our skilled seamstresses meticulously sew an array of items, including mari blouses, skirts, shirts, baby clothes, and much more. Furthermore, they extend their expertise to creating uniforms for the local hospital.

Beyond stitching, KAKS is on a mission to empower local women through training programs in the art of sewing. By providing skills and knowledge, we aim to enable these women to create their own clothing and establish a presence in the market. The ripple effect of this empowerment resonates through the community, creating opportunities for economic independence.

One of KAKS’s proudest achievements is its involvement in the Days for Girls project. As KAKS thrives and creates profit, it directly contributes to the Days for Girls project, its fabrics and the labour costs. The more KAKS flourishes, the more women we can assist through the Days for Girls initiative, promoting menstrual hygiene and dignity.

Currently, our shop is bustling with activity, always abuzz with creativity and a commitment to improvement. The ladies at KAKS continually explore new designs and fabrics, keeping the excitement alive and ensuring that Kapuna and its surroundings have access to high-quality clothing.

So if you are ever around, make sure to stop by and buy something from the wonderful team at KAKS to support them.
